A Silly Noisy House can be run from your hard drive or from the CD-ROM. Performance will be improved if the files are on your hard drive. The installer will prompt you to install the animation files on the hard drive. This will need about 8Mb of space on your hard drive. If you choose not to install them, then A Silly Noisy House will need only 400K. A Silly Noisy House is designed to run with 256 colors. However, it will run with just 16 colors, but the result will not match your expectations. In some places parts of the picture will become transparent. If your display is set to greater than 256 colors, you may be prompted to change to 256 colors. Running under any display mode other than 256 colors will result in color problems, and will be unsatisfactory. This software was created using Macromedia's Director Player for Windows, which has problems with some video display boards - particularly those based on the S3 chipset. Some manufacturers who use these chips in their display boards include Diamond, Number Nine, Orchid, Hauppage, and Genoa Systems. Consult the documentation that came with your video board if you are unsure of the chip being used. If you do have a board based on the S3 chip, upgraded drivers should be available to resolve the conflict. If you are using a driver from before December 1993/January 1994, please contact your video board manufacturer for an updated set of drivers.
